CULTURAL EXCURSIONS ON TAP AT THIS KHAO LAK RESORT

Charming Taku Pa town

Pullman Khao Lak Resort Situated on Bang Muang Beach at the northern tip of the Phang Nag province. This Khao Lak Resort grasps the historical backdrop of Takua Pa, a town today still unfamiliar to most of the tourists but offers a great cultural excursion. The truth is this town in the thirteenth century during Srivijaya times was the best harbour on the west coast. The Tamil kingdoms forged the shipping routes. Trade flooded into the town across the Indian ocean. It prospered from the deep source of minerals and tin found inland.

By the 1900s it was a flourishing town with many Portuguese and Chinese migrants. The representative architecture of this time well-kept until today. Takua Pa was a cultural melting pot, very much like Phra Nakhon was in Bangkok. Paku Pa became a treasure trove of art, craft and culinary creations utilizing the healthy spice turmeric or kammin in Thai found in plentiful supply in the area. For guests staying a the resort, a trip to Trku Pa Town is a must.

Khao Sok National Park

Khao Sok National Park is just behind Paku Pa town, a spectacular green shroud extending across 739 sq-km of land. It only takes 30 minutes from our Khao Lak resort. It is one of the world’s most ancient evergreen forests, featuring soaring limestone cliffs, giant indigenous trees of hundreds of years old. Cheow Lan Lake and remarkable biodiversity of fowls and other animals offering unrivalled nature trekking and elevated routes for cycling by the cultural history of Takua Pa and Khao Sok national beauty park inspired the concept of Pullman Khao Lak Resort. Bound together by the warm and authentic southern Thai service culture where people refer to themselves as “peuan” or friend in the local dialect.
